You've read everything by your favorite author, your friends haven't read anything new that you are interested in, but you are desperate for another book to read.  WHAT TO DO????  Not to fear!  There are lots of places to look for books that are similar to your favorites.
 

 Contemporary Authors Find about your favorite author, personal info, career, complete list of writings.

Books and Magazines available in the library  This is a list of looks and magazines, located in the library, that deals with books.  Useful for determining "read-a-likes".

Online Catalog Click on the Online Catalog to determine if the Union County Library owns a particular book or ask us to get the book through Interlibrary Loan.

All About Romance (Likesbooks.com)   This is an exemplary site with graded reviews, the Desert Isle reviews (Books that readers would like to take to a desert island), chatty essays on reading and romance, and over three dozen lists.
Bookbrowser Provides  extensive information on reading and publishing.  Author interviews, reading lists, book reviews, forthcoming titles, hot titles, authors pseudonyms.  The reading lists provide, "If you like this author try these...", list of award books, time and place books, series and sequels lists.  Now combined with Barnes & Noble.
Bookspot.com   Sections on genres and authors, links to past articles, book discussion center, award books, recommended books.  This site is primarily a directory of Reader's Advisory sites.  Easy to navigate, the site divides its links into general categories, such as What to Read, Genre Corner, Where to Buy, and Behind the Books.  The site also features thoughtful articles about such varied subjects as classic works that can be downloaded online, Victorian literature, and the adaptation of popular books to film.
Gnooks  Another way to discover read-a-likes.  This site allows you to find similar books by typing in  favorite authors.
Mystery lovers  Stopyourekillingme.com  Over 25,000 titles on crime, mystery and thrillers.  Includes Agatha awards; Edgar awards; and Arthur Ellis awards.
The New York Review of Books   This online companion to the prestigious New York Review of Books offers select reviews from the current print edition, as well as an archive of reviews from past issues.  In addition to book reviews, you can access a collection of audio clips of contemporary authors reading their works on the occasion of the magazine's 35th anniversary (Real Player required).  The site also features a gallery of caricatures by David Levine.  A paid subscription is required to view all of the magazine's current reviews.
The New York Times Book Review   The electronic edition of The New York Times Book Review contains extra features not found in the print edition.  At the heart of the site is the full text of all book reviews published in the magazine since 1996.  Online - only features include a library of first chapters from recently published books, audio clips of interviews with contemporary authors, and specialized reading recommendations (Real Player required).  To find out what Americans are reading, refer to the times' bestseller lists.
Overbooked 
A web site for ravenous readers. Overbooked specializes in providing timely information about literary & genre fiction as well as readable nonfiction. Overbooked originals include annotated lists of nonfiction, fiction and mystery books which received starred reviews, themed booklists, featured titles lists and hot lists of hard cover US fiction releases. Check out the newish Author Connections - A special section for authors to communicate information to readers looking for good books and what to read next. This site contains large files.
