Animals

The Public Library for Union County has many books for you to use. Come check some out!

Call numbers:

Jungle & Endangered Animals: 500 - 599

More Endangered Animals: 333

Check out the juvenile reference collection area using those call numbers too - we have information in the regular collection and the reference section.

In the adult reference section be sure to look for Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia (590's). The surrounding books may also be helpful.

You can search our catalog for your specific animal as well. Please ask at the reference or circulation desk if you need any assistance.

These links are in no particular order, although Yahooligans would be my first place to start.

Yahooligans! Animals A version of Yahoo just for kids, this site offers all you ever needed to know about any animal (or just about).

Oakland Zoo Animals- A to Z Check out some animals that live in the Oakland Zoo! There is a lot of information here including scientific names, life cycles, descriptions, diet, geographic locations, pictures and more.

Animal Diversity Web Sponsored by the University of Michigan's Museum of Zoology, this site is for a more advanced study of animals.

Desert Animals & Wildlife If the animal you're looking for lives in the desert, this is the site to learn more about it. It also includes a desert food chain.

Rainforest Animals Information for a handful of the animals that live in the rainforest is located here, along with several links to other sites.
