In the adult reference section be sure to look for Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia (590's). The surrounding books may also be helpful.

You can search our catalog for your specific animal as well. Please ask at the reference or circulation desk if you need any assistance.

Yahooligans! Animals A version of Yahoo just for kids, this site offers all you ever needed to know about any animal (or just about).

Oakland Zoo Animals- A to Z Check out some animals that live in the Oakland Zoo! There is a lot of information here including scientific names, life cycles, descriptions, diet, geographic locations, pictures and more.

Animal Diversity Web Sponsored by the University of Michigan's Museum of Zoology, this site is for a more advanced study of animals.

Desert Animals & Wildlife If the animal you're looking for lives in the desert, this is the site to learn more about it. It also includes a desert food chain.

Rainforest Animals Information for a handful of the animals that live in the rainforest is located here, along with several links to other sites.

Still didn't find what you're looking for? Try this:

• Go to the Public Library for Union County’s website: http://www.publibuc.org/
• Click on the Power Library icon
• It will ask you to type in your ID number. You will find this number on the back of your public library card. Type in the entire number (no spaces) and click Submit.
• Here you will find lots of databases to choose from.
• Along the right hand side, under "General Reference," click on "SIRS Discoverer."
• In the top box type in your search terms and click search.
• Articles tell you how hard they are to read by the color coded boxes to the left of them.
• Articles with cameras by their title have pictures.
• Use the tabs along the top to find only reference articles, or just pictures.
• Click on the blue title of the article you want to read.
• If you are having trouble finding information use the advanced search option or different search terms (i.e., the scientific name).
• Play around using different databases by choosing something other than SIRS Discoverer from the first Power Library page too!
